In the framework of the "Cup of Cultures" at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, we inivite you to a live concert and performance of Ayobaness – The Sound of South African House. In the townships of Johannesburg, the buzzword "Ayoba" means: excitement. At the end of apartheid it started with Kwaito music, the boiled down and increasingly sophisticated house beats with raps in Zulu, Xhosa and suburban English. Local House Styles got established.
The compilation "Ayobaness" presents this sound in full bloom. Live with DJ, comedian and singer Pastor Mbhobho with his huge Afro and lots of bling bling.
