Im Rahmen der Filmreihe african reflections – female directors in cinema lädt AfricAvenir am Sonntag, den 29. Juli 2007 um 17:30 Uhr zur erstmaligen Vorführung des Gesamtwerkes der vielfach preisgekrönten Filmemacherin Dyana Gaye in das Filmtheater Hackesche Höfe. Dyana Dyana wurde 1975 in Paris geboren. Sie hat an der Université Paris 8 – St Denis Film studiert und als Abschlussarbeit das Drehbuch ihres ersten Kurzspielfilms „Une Femme Pour Souleymane“ geschrieben. Heute arbeitet sie als Regisseurin, Drehbuchautorin und Produzentin. Seit ihrer Kindheit hat Dyana Gaye jedes Jahr mehrere Monate in der Heimat ihrer Eltern bei Verwandten im Senegal verbracht. 1999 hat sie das Stipendium Louis Lumière – Villa Médicis Hors les murs erhalten, um an dem Drehbuch für „Une femme pour Souleymane“ zu arbeiten. 2004 war sie Finalistin der Bourse Rolex Mentor und Protege Arts Initiative für ihr Langfilmprojekt „Une correspondance extraordinaire“. 2005 hat sie als Schauspielerin an dem Film „Code 68“ von Jean-Henri Roger mitgewirkt. Dyana Gaye hat parallel zu ihrem Filmschaffen mehrere Jahre als Programmleiterin bei A.C.I.D. (Agence du Cinéma Indépendant pour sa Diffusion) gearbeitet. nFestivals (Auswahl)

For three years Souleymane has been living in Paris. To cope with his loneliness, he takes refuge in a dream world, that is becoming and real for him. In the end he tells his family that he is going to marry the woman of his dreams. Mohamed is 75. Through photographs and souvenirs that he put up neatly against his wall, the film takes us on a journey to the Paris of his youth, the Paris of the 50s…, the Paris of his one big love, Claudia…

Dyana Gaye was born in Paris in 1975. She studied film at the Université Paris 8 – St Denis. Her final piece was the script of her first filmlet „Une Femme pour Souleymane“. Today she works as a director, script-writer and producer. Since her childhood, Dyana Gaye spends several months every year at her family`s home in Senegal. 1999 she gained the scholarship Louis Lumière – Villa Médicis Hors les murs to work on the script for „Une Femme Pour Souleymane“. In 2004 she was a finalist of the Bourse Rolex Mentor und Protege Arts Initiative for her movie „Une Correspondence Extraordinaire“. In 2005 she played in Jean-Henri Roger`s film „Code 68“. Dyana Gaye est née ? Paris en 1975. Elle a fait des études de cinéma ? l’Université Paris 8 – St Denis. Dans le cadre de son mémoire de fin d’étude, elle a écrit le scénario de son premier court-métrage: «Une Femme pour Souleymane». Aujourd’hui, Dyana Gaye est ? la fois réalisatrice, scénariste et productrice. Depuis son enfance, elle passe plusieurs mois par an chez ses proches au Sénégal, patrie de ses parents. En 1999, elle a obtenu la bourse Louis Lumière – Villa Médicis Hors les murs pour réaliser le scénario de «Une Femme pour Souleymane». En 2004, elle a été finaliste de la bourse Rolex Mentor & Protégé Arts Initiative pour son projet de long-métrage intitulé «Une correspondance extraordinaire». En 2005, elle a joué dans le film «Code 68» de Jean-Henri Roger. En marge de ses activités liées au cinéma, Dyana Gaye a travaillé pendant plusieurs années comme directrice des programmes de l’Agence du Cinéma Indépendant pour sa Diffusion (A.C.I.D). nFestivals (sélection)
