The Anti-Humboldt-Box – Preview of an exhibition in a suitcase. Opening is on Saturday, 16 November 2013, 6pm at the August-Bebel-Institute. Subsequently, the exhibition will also be open on 17 and 18 November from 12noon to 6pm.

From 16 to 18 November AfricAvenir in cooperation with the August-Bebel-Insitut invites you to a preview of the exhibition The Anti-Humboldt-Box. It presents a project carried out by Artefakte//anti-humboldt (Brigitta Kuster, Regina Sarreiter, Dierk Schmidt) and AFROTAK TV cyberNomads (Michael Küppers-Adebisi) together with Andreas Siekmann and Ute Klissenbauer. nThe exhibition addresses the debate surrounding the current reconstruction of Berlin’s historical centre in the form of the Berlin Castle/Humboldt-Forum. The Anti-Humboldt-Box makes the criticism leveled against the Humboldt-Forum mobile, enabling its presentation in different venues. The exhibition in the suitcase – based on Marcel Duchamps boîte-en-valise – is simultaneously art and information. The exhibition pieces – artistic miniatures, video material, flyers, posters – were created in the framework of the No Humboldt 21! campaign.nArtefakte//anti-humboldt is a Berlin-based group of artists and researchers that formed in 2008 as part of the event The Anti-Humboldt – An event concerning the selective demolition of the Humboldt-Forum (www.humboldtforum.info).  Artefakte//anti-humboldt investigates and examines the existence of anthropological collecitons: In 2008 with a workshop on the issue of Restitution, in 2009 with an evening event with Françoise Vergès concerning the Museum of the present, 2010 with the open air film-presentation Mummy movies on the Schlossplatz on the construction site of the Humboldt-Forum’s Schlossplatz, 2011 with a film-presentation at the Musée du Quai Branly at the invitation of bétonsalon in Paris, and in 2012 with the installation rise, for you shall not perish (on mummymania) in the exhibition „Animism“ in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW). Artefakte//anti-humboldt also published a special edition of the British online journal darkmatter, entitled Afterlifes: German and European Postcoloniality. Artefacts. Museums. Art., which will be presented at the HKW on 22 November 2013.nAFROTAK TV cyberNormads is an Afro-German media, culture and education archive and social network which was founded and is headed by Adetoun Küppers-Adebisi and Michael Küppers-Adebisi. In 2000 and 2001 this Afro-German initiative was commissed by the Federal Centre for Political Education (Bundeszentrale politische Bildung, bpb) to carry out a pilot project for integration of migrants in terms of educational policy, particularly of the African diaspora in Germany. In the course of this project up to 2005, an online portal was created as a digital inventory of the historical and contemporary presence of the African diaspora in Germany, including its non-governmental organisations and its media. During this time, AFROTAK TV cyberNormads also organised several Black media congresses on the topics of “Soulpower and Cyberspace”, “Networking Europe” and “From the Berlin Africa Conference in 1884 to Afrotourism in 2004”. In 2004, the „May-Ayim-Award“ for Black literature was initiated. For the „Black History Month Berlin“ in 2009 and 2010 the initiative organised panel discussions about the identity of the African Diaspora, racism and migration.nSaturday, 16 to Monday, 18 November 2013,
