New Edition of “50 years of African In-Dependences – a (self-)critical review“

2.000 copies were sold in no time and the elaborately designed publication “50 years of African In-Dependences – a (self-)critical review“ has been out of stock for over a year. But the demand for the publication persists. As of now we, therefore, start the attempt to bring out the third edition. Advance orders for the new hard copy can be placed for 15,90 Euro on info(at)africavenir.org. nAbout the book:
On the one hand the publication documents high level talks organised in the frame of a series; these talks are supplemented by contributions of extraordinary authors such as Achille Mbembe and Micere Mugo. On the other hand, the publication provides extracts of political speeches from the fathers of independence like Patrice Lumumba and Kwame Nkrumah as well as a detailed time line visualizing the historical facts of African independence.nMoreover, a rather emotional access to the topic is offered through poems by Chirikure Chirikure and Micere Mugo, song lyrics by the hip hop artist Didier Awadi as well as literary contributions by Salja Patel, Papy Maurice Mbwiti and Abdourahmane Wabéri which is supplemented by a series of photos on Namibian independence by Tony Figueira as well as photos taken on an educational trip to DAK’ART 2010 in Senegal. nProduced in cooperation with Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy Halle the book represents at design level an innovative processing of the topic “50 years of African In-Dependences”.nOrder informationnEditions AfricAvenir/Exchange & Dialogue
